The Chiropractic Adjustment, The Subluxation and what a Chiropractor do when he (or she) "pops" things?
So the truth is we buy these little things at the toy store and pop them at just the right time, now you know... Ok, Ok so maybe there is a little more to it than that. But this could be a rather "deep" page since I am getting into the philosophy of what Chiropractic is, what Chiropractic does and why YOU need Chiropractic Adjustments but if you have been reading my site for very long you know I try to always speak/write in down to earth terms rather than in "doctoreze". Hopefully this will be a great page for helping everyone understand Chiropractic better. First the term "Subluxation". In medical dictionaries this means something is not quite dislocated but it almost is. Over a hundred years ago D. D. Palmer and his son B.J. Palmer started Chiropractic as a profession here in the US. About the same time Andrew Taylor Still began the profession of osteopathy. Both believed that the body was self healing and needed "adjustments" but there were differences in how they went about that. Thousands of years ago we have written evidence that the Chinese were performing their own brand of adjustment that they call "Tuina". What that tells me is that humans have been needing adjustments for a really long time and what I see in my own life and in the lives of my patients is that those that get adjusted tend to live better more pain free happier lives. So back to that term I started out defining... Subluxation. A Subluxation as defined by us, the Chiropractors, is a condition where the bones of the spine become somewhat stuck and the movement between them is less it should be. The Subluxation is the beginning of the degenerative process in the spine and in many people it begins when they are children and continues for years undetected. When a person has pain associated with the spine they might finally seek a chiropractor to help them and restore some movement to the problem area but up to then they never knew they had a problem. Chiropractors generally handle the condition of Subluxation (your real condition) in several different ways. First, a Chiropractor may handle your condition medically (this is where I realize I have been for a long time but I never meant to be here and I am changing). This means that we adjust or manipulate your spine and maybe we do many other treatments but it is with nothing but "your pain" in mind and your treatment stops when you stop hurting. In this case we (chiropractors) never really talk about the process (Subluxation) that gets you to the condition you are in, some chiropractors even deny that such a condition even exists because they don't want to explain it to their medical counterparts and maybe even fear pissing them off. Another way a Chiropractor might handle your case is to tell you a little about Subluxation and why only a chiropractor will ultimately help you, and adjust you. Keeping it simple and affordable for you and giving you the best possible adjustment is a great way to help you and that is what I have been trying to do for years, unfortunately I haven't really been doing the part about educating my patients about the Subluxation and the detrimental effects it will eventually have on your life. I'll try to do better. Sometimes I might see a patient out at the grocery store and they may say how happy they are with me and how much I helped them but then they hold their back when they pick up their grocery sack due to the problem thats still there that I didn't really ever get to help them with because they never came back for the treatment they needed. Maybe it was the money, maybe it was a lack of time, maybe my hours aren't good for them, maybe they are lying and I really didn't make them better but they thought that 1 adjustment should do it... you know what? one adjustment may get you out of pain but it won't fix the Subluxation that limited the range of motion of the joints in your spine and left you open to the injury that finally got you here. So with that in mind I believe people need to be adjusted a lot more than they get adjusted! whats more most people want to be adjusted more, they know they need to be adjusted more, so why aren't YOU getting the chiropractic adjustments you need? Is it time? or money? is it the hours of the clinic or maybe you have to wait to long when you go there (ok I know I'm trying here). Whatever is stopping you lets figure it out and get you the treatment you need! We offer zero interest financing (with affordable monthly payments) that WILL fit your budget and we can set the payments however it suits you (pretty much) With that in mind I have decided to practice a more Principled Chiropractic approach and that means offering you everything it takes to relieve your subluxations and allow your body to heal naturally after the nerve interference is reduced. Your first adjustment will only cost you $40. If you need X-Rays it will only cost you $60 for 2 X-rays of the problem area. Most people need ongoing chiropractic adjustments for a while, for you I am going to reduce my fee even further! If you join one of our Maintanence & Wellness Clubs it will reduce your adjustment cost to only $20-29 and you will get a weekly or monthly schedule for adjustments. If you have taken it to far and have actually already blown a disc I will do Spinal Decompression for you for only $40 for the first unit of treatment and if we get into longer treatments (1/2 hour) it is only an additional $20 ($40-$60 total - doctors usually charge over $200 per treatment for Spinal Decompression! Same with Acupuncture, some people have health problems that have gone past where they can heal themselves and need natural pain control without the many side effects of drugs, I do the first unit of Acupuncture for only $40 and if an extended session is necessary it is only an additional $20 ($40-$60 total). Many people are in need of long term Chiropractic treatments and I understand that paying for that is sometimes a problem. Part of a principled chiropractic practice is to offer reduced our fees so that patients afford to bring their entire family for checkups and can afford the care they need. When better health is your goal of care the insurance is quick to stop paying for it. Remember insurance pays for the sick to get less sick, maybe even well, but not for the well to get more well. For that reason we offer several options from our Zero Interest Payment Plan so you don't have to pay to much cash for your budget and when your in really bad shape and needing a lot of help you need all the help you can get, right? Then, when you are doing well you will want to keep it that way. Call me today at 903.849.2200 and lets see if I can help YOU. Sincerely,
Dr. Charles Dixon DC
