GLOSSARY of TERMS

Eliminate Your Heel Pain, (maybe forever!)

A patient with a complaint of heel pain typically suffers from a condition called plantar fascitis. Plantar fascitis usually presents first as pain on the bottom of the foot and back to the heel on the bottom of the foot and is worst on arising from sleep when the foot is put down and you try to walk. Later when it gets worse it may also hurt worse the longer you stand on it and in the most advanced cases it may hurt all the time just sometimes more excruciating than other times. This is treated in the office with Bio-Medical Acupuncture and Graston Therapy also known as a type of Active Myofascial Release Therapy. Depending on the severity a night splint may need to be worn to stretch the tissues of the bottom of the foot while you sleep. Finally we teach a series of stretches and "self-applied" massage techniques to keep you better after your care with us is finished.

In my years of experience dealing with this condition it is my opinion that if you tell most doctors (all types, MD DC DO, even many specialists) you have heel pain they lump all patients together as having plantar fascitis - the figures suggest that 70-75% do have plantar fascitis - but what if that isn't YOUR problem...

Unfortunately plantar fascitis is not the only problem a patient that shows up with heel pain actually has.

Another problem I see commonly in cases where the "other" doctors and specialists have failed to help the patient with their heel pain is, I believe, actually a combination of tendonitis of the tibialis posterior muscles insertion tendon as it passes on the inside of the ankle on its way to attach at the bottom of the big toe and I find it is in part due to trigger points in the tibialis posterior muscle that cause it to remain tighter than usual for a long period of time - leading to tendonitis at the heel. This is treated with Bio-Medical Acupuncture as well as Graston Myofascial Release and stretching followed by Cold Laser Treatments to the tendon.

We offer these and many other therapies in our office. Most musculoskeletal rehabilitation is covered by your insurance, unfortunately this type treatment is not covered by medicare. We offer very generous discounts for uninsured patients and even greater discounts for medicare patients where there is out of pocket expense. Please ask about it so we can discuss your specific circumstances. Also we offer an In-House Zero Interest Financing Program.

Thank you for visiting, I appreciate you considering our facility to assist you in achieving your healthcare goals. I'll do everything I can to help you, I'll never give up on you and I'll never let money stand in the way of you getting the care you need.

Sincerely,

Dr. Charles Dixon DC
